This week we are featuring Alissa Wilson, fashion blogger and creator of site Stylish Curves!
Stylish Curves is a fashion and lifestyle blog dedicated to bridging the gap between straight and plus sizes, focused on showing curvy women that they can dress just as fabulously. Stylish Curves aims to align plus size women with a perspective on fashion that the world doesn’t shed light on, beholding a personal style and learning to shop within and out of the plus size realm. From celebrity looks to the hottest on trend fashion, Stylish Curves teaches women to appreciate and love their bodies, regardless of size.
When did you start blogging and where is Stylish Curves based out of?
I started blogging in the summer of 2009. My blog is based in New York City.
How did you first get into Fashion Blogging?
Surprisingly, I found about blogging by watching Oprah. I saw an episode featuring a mommy blogger who spoke about her blog’s popularity and how she utilized her blog as her work, making $40,000 a year through site monetization. After seeing this, I thought to myself, I could do that too but focus on plus size fashion.
Who is the target audience for the blog?
My target audience is plus size women ages 25-34 who are looking to find stylish and on trend clothes in their size.
What makes Stylish Curves different from other fashion blogs out there?
I think what makes Stylish Curves different is the way I highlight my own personal style while also showing plus size women where to purchase the latest styles and trends. I set my blog up like the pages in a magazine, offering real editorial content. I am a resource when it comes to finding stylish plus size clothes, I also present a strong emphasis on work wear.
What type of posts do you feature on your site?
Beyond the posts detailing my personal style, I feature style posts from other plus size women and celebrity style posts. Additionally, when I am invited to different fashion events, I am sure to interview designers and feature the interviews on my site.
How long have you been in the Rakuten LinkShare network?
I have been with Rakuten LinkShare for almost a year now.
Your site drives excellent traffic – What methods do you use to increase your exposure?
|
I use social media as a tool to drive traffic; both Twitter and Facebook are great space to share quick finds with my followers. You can follow Stylish Curves on Twitter and Like Stylish Curves on Facebook. |
At what times during the year does your site have the most traffic?
I see the most traffic during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Everyone is interested in what apparel is in for next season as well as which celebrities attended and what they were wearing.
Which Rakuten LinkShare tools interest you the most and why?
I find the merchant reports important and helpful. The reports tell me what my readers are interested in and what items have been clicked on the most.
As a fashion blogger using Affiliate Marketing for monetization, what do you find most beneficial about working with this model compared to others (Paid Advertisements, CPC etc.)?
I think the ability to tailor advertisements and use specific product links in my collages is very beneficial.
Who are some of the Advertisers that you work with?
Bloomingdales, Saks, Nordstrom, Mod Cloth, and Sephora.
Is there anything else you want to tell us?
I feel being able to monetize my site beyond direct paid advertising has allowed me to view my blog as more than just a hobby but as a business.
Thank you and good luck with Stylish Curves!
