Trying to Reach UK Shoppers? Remember its “Voucher” not “Coupon”…

Global Affiliate Marketing is something that is increasingly talked about during our conversations with Advertisers and Publishers. Every year, more and more U.S. based Advertisers join the Rakuten LinkShare Networks in the UK, Canada and Japan. We’re also seeing the trend in reverse: UK, Canadian and Japanese Retailers are increasingly joining the US Network.

While consumers are getting used to making purchases from non-US-based retailers, Advertisers are getting help on their promotional strategies from Publishers with experience in local markets. To be sure, there are some important differences.

Case in point, in the UK the word “voucher” is used instead of “coupon”.  Last year, “voucher sites” and rewards sites in general saw a sharp increase in visitor traffic during the all important month of December (See chart below).  These sites are experts in knowing what UK consumers are buying. So if you are a US-based Advertiser looking to drive UK shopping traffic, make sure to build partnerships with the top voucher sites in the Rakuten LinkShare UK Network.

Getting those partnerships in place now could pay off during the holiday season later this year.
