Here is the latest information about the project related to changing the format of links delivered through LinkShare Merchandiser.
The primary purpose of this project is to speed up the processing times for LinkShare Merchandiser files so we can get updated links out to Publishers faster. The new link format also contains more product information which many Publishers have welcomed.
The date for the project has moved out a few times due to the comprehensive testing that’s taking place. We announced the project early to ensure Publishers were aware of the change in case it had any impact on their custom applications. Right now we are finalizing testing with the Japanese character set and are getting ready for deployment.
- The new date for implementation is now the week of October 17th.
Please stay tuned for more information and confirmation of this latest release date. In addition to testing the new format in LinkShare’s QA environment we have also worked with several Publishers to test the new format with their applications and we’re seeing great results.

Background: LinkShare Merchandiser Product Link Format Update
If you are using LinkShare Merchandiser data feeds you may know your product links are currently being delivered in the following structure:
Beginning the week of October 17th your product links will be delivered in the following format:
Here are some things to keep in mind about this new format:
- Generally no action is needed you will simply notice the new format when downloading product links from LinkShare Merchandiser Downloads.
- Product links in the old format will NOT break.
- Other ways of getting links including deep linking and the Coupon Web Service are NOT impacted by this change
- Important: If you have custom or third party applications that rebuild product links after downloading them from LinkShare Merchandiser Downloads ensure that you test and use the new format going forward.
