A new way to build tracking links

We recently introduced a new way for Publishers to easily create tracking links outside of the Dashboard.

We now have linking format that provides Publishers with the ability to generate clickable links to pages on an advertiser’s site, without logging into the Publisher Dashboard or making a Web service call.

You can use a simple template per Advertiser, and the link you create is directly clickable.   This feature can also be used to build applications that automate the conversion of Advertiser URL’s to network tracking links.

To generate a tracking link, you will attach an &id=, &mid=, and &murl= value as name-value pairs to this base URL http://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink.

Here’s an example:

http://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=xxxxxxxxxxx&mid=11111&murl=http://www.merchant.com/deals.htm

  • id= The unique 11-character code that tells LinkShare which Publisher referred the click
  • mid= The ID of the Advertiser who you are creating a link to
  • murl= The Advertiser landing page where your visitors will be taken
  • u1= Optional field to track sub-sites or members

Please note that the same URL encoding rules apply as the rest of the LinkShare web services.  There’s some more information in the help center.

Also, this only works for Advertisers that have enabled deep linking.
