I’m pleased to announce a new tool from LinkShare designed to make it easier for Publishers to sell compelling products to consumers.

LinkShare’s Gift Card Storefront makes it easy for you to promote gift cards from your advertiser-partners to your users.  Visitors to your storefront will see advertisers in a variety of categories and easily be able to navigate to the gift card page on an advertiser’s web site.  You could think of a storefront as a big link.  Here is an example of one (click the image for a clearer picture):

In order to use a storefront, you’ll need to customize the page to match your publisher account.

  1. Choose from any of our 4 holiday themes below
  2. Remove any links from advertisers that you don’t currently have a relationship with.
  3. Look in the HTML file and find where it says “YOUR CODE HERE”.
  4. Input your 11-digit publisher code in this space.  You can find this 11-digit code by looking at any of your advertiser links as seen here:

http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=11111111111&

In this case 11111111111 is the 11-digit Publisher code.

In order to pick up the HTML, navigate to one of the pages below and then select File then Save page as HTML in your browser menu.

Great job Ian and team! I just blogged about this and wanted to share a couple of my comments here.

“Help your visitors give the gift of choice this year - by launching your own quick and easy Gift Card Store. Check out Linkshare’s new Gift Card StoreFront Tool below. This is another one of those “gee, why hasn’t anyone thought of this before” tools. It just makes SO much sense!

WARNING: Some merchants DON’T PAY COMMISSION ON GIFT CARDS, or pay a reduced rate, so be sure to check each merchant’s policy before adding them to your store. Don’t just automatically add all your joined merchants.”

I also talked about how people are buying gift cards earlier this year and more are using gift cards for practical items and necessities instead of luxury or traditional gift items - according to some studies.

    Anyway, cool tool!

    Thanks, Linda Buquet

I have attempted several time to find and secure the html by clicking on file menu, clicking on save..yet there is no save page as html, only gif and bitmap is offered. I am on Windows XP. Please help.

Suggestion: why not have the html accessed like the store coupons or banners?

  4. LinkShare Says:

Cheryl, which browser version are you using?

Thanks for the suggestion, this is the first multi-Advertiser storefront we’ve made but we’ll see what the future brings…

    Cheryl - great news! Enjoy…

  8. Murray Says:

The preloaded merchants on these pages are quite a different list than the one being promoted as the list of merchants who pay commissions on gift cards. Why is that?

  9. andrew miller Says:

ohh yeahh,, this will be that moneymaker I wanna get down with!

  10. LinkShare Says:

Murray - we’ve updated the storefronts guide and the help center, they’re now sync’d up.

  11. John Says:

Why is NORDSTROM included on this list when on the terms and conditions of NORDSTROM it says:

“Purchases of Nordstrom Gift Cards are not eligible to earn referral fees.”

Maybe other merchants fall in this category.

    Please explain!

  12. LinkShare Says:

    John,

Nordstrom now allows the promotion of gift cards during certain times of the year – and holiday is one of them. Gift card text link # 10040355 and text link #10040356 are also available in the interface to help you promote gift cards this holiday season.

  14. Sylvia Says:

I just signed up in the affiliate program. I can’t find out how to “get a relationship” with an advertiser or how to look in my HTML file to find my code. Can you help me with this?

  15. LinkShare Says:

    Sylvia,

When I say “get a relationship”, that means having applied to and been approved into an advertiser affiliate marketing program.

There’s more details in the quick start guide: http://helpcenter.linkshare.com/publisher/questions.php?questionid=26.

Your code can be identified in any of your affiliate tracking links in the interface. You’ll want to do a find and replace the text that reads YOUR_CODE_HERE in the HTML file before posting it on your site. Once you have relationships with some of the advertisers, of course.
